SnowPatrol Siberians was a completely unexpected adventure. Growing up, I had never had a dog. I always knew that I wanted a dog, but not just any dog. I wanted a Siberian Husky. I did some research on the internet to find out more about the breed and was interested in learning more. Soon after, I realized that there was a Siberian Husky breeder in the town right next to mine, when I lived in New Brunswick. A few calls were made to Brenda Bowen and I was out to visit Sno Noz Reg’d Siberians, in Burton, NB. From the moment I got there in the spring of 2006 and saw 5 of the most beautiful dogs I had ever seen, I was hooked. It was just my luck that one of the females, Inik was pregnant. One cheque and nearly four months later I was the proud owner of my first Siberian Husky, Koda. Koda was all I ever wanted in a dog. Perfect temperment, kind, loving, playful, loyal and just unbelievable in every possible way. My first months with Koda were pretty hectic, because the day after I picked her up, it was off to Ontario. I am in the military and needless to say, moves are a common thing for me. On arriving in Ontario, Brenda told me of another Siberian Husky breeder in Pembroke, Ontario, only half an hour from my new house. Sibertrott Reg’d Siberians had bred dogs and sold them to Brenda. Quite a family and I guess you realize how small the world really is. A few visits to Sibertrott Reg’d Siberians and meeting with Colleen and Dean and I knew immediately that there was going to be more Huskies in my future. In the early spring of 2007, Colleen informed me that two of her females were pregnant. Two litters of Huskies to choose from. I knew Koda needed a sibling and decided on a sister for her. When my new puppy Luna was 6 weeks old, Koda passed over the rainbow bridge in a tragic accident. It is no exageration to say that I was absolutely devastated. I never realized how much a pet can mean to you. At first I was not sure what to do, but Colleen and Dean helped me deal with the loss. I decided that I was still going to bring Luna home, after much discussion, I might add. Boy, can I tell you, it was the best thing for me. I realized how much I needed her, especially at that time. She brought so much love into the home right away and showed me how to move on. From there, I knew almost immediately that Luna needed a sister and started making plans to look for a brother or sister for Luna and after much discussion on that subject, I decided that I would breed Luna. Not immediately of course. Luna is now two years old and will be bred in the spring/summer of 2009. We are a small kennel, registered with the Canadian Kennel Club, and breed healtly, happy puppies.
